Women's Boat Crew at Kirra Beach QLD

Women's Boat Crew

The Gove Peninsula Women’s Surf Boat crew have travelled once again to represent their club.

They attended 2 carnivals hosted on Kirra Beach on the Gold Coast. In the first carnival - sponsored be the Navy - the crew battled heavy surf conditions against crews from up and down the Queensland coast. Although they didn’t place in any of the races, valuable experience was gained by all.

In the second carnival, the boat crew were representing North Queensland branch by invitation. This carnival involved the girls teaming up with crews from other North Queensland clubs in individual and relay events. Once again, although not placing, the crew performed admirably in long races in tough surf conditions.

These carnivals were an extremely valuable experience as the girls and Charles are soon off to represent the NT at the Interstate carnival at Scarborough Beach in Perth WA.  Following the Interstates they represent the club at the the Australian Championships.

The GPSLSC women’s boat crew would like to thank their sponsors and supporters without whom they could not afford to travel to represent our town at these events: Troy Pickett; Kaefer; East Arnhem Engineering; C&S Refrigeration; GPSLSC and Nhulunbuy Regional Amateur Fishing Club.
